More blog candy

I am completely blown away. I happened to find a stunning blog through Magnolia’s Inspiration blog and Oh My God am I ever glad I did. This gal, Camilla, is phenomenal and I adore her style. Now I need to go experiment with colouring the way she does, with distress reinkers. 😉 Oh, before I go and mess up my dinner table with reinkers : she has blog candy on her blog! Go check it out here!
Well, as if THAT wasn’t enough, I also stumbled onto THIS blog by Ewonne. And lo and behold, there’s candy as well. I was cross-eyed from staring at her projects so hard, but when I managed to refocus I realized that I need to enter this candy too. Yes, I know, the odds of winning are smaller than being hit by lightning, but still… 🙂
Good luck!
Magnolia vs Stampavie week 8
Posted in BasicGrey, magnolia, Sketch Challenges, tagged BasicGrey's Blush papers, Distress inks, Koh-I-Noor, Tilda, Versafine on January 15, 2009| 1 Comment »
This is a card I made using last week’s sketch on the Magnolia vs Stampavie challenge blog. I didn’t make a thank you card as requested (I have tons of those already!) but a Thinking of You-card. I don’t own a single Stampavie stamp, shockingly enough, but I was happy enough to use one of my lovely Tildas!
I used BasicGrey’s Blush papers, Prima flowers, Reprint brads and lots of Walnut Stain and Old Paper distress inks. Tilda is stamped with Versafine Onyx Black and coloured with Koh-I-Noor pencils and a Dove blender pen.

Blog-hopping

Yes, hubby and my son are STILL away on vacation, what other reason could I possibly have to sit up at this late hour blog-hopping like an imbecile…. 😉
It’s been nice though and I found some super nice blog candy that I thought I’d tell you about.
First there’s a super talented gal who is offering a mouth-watering selction of goodies! Check it out on her blog Crafty Makes.
Then I happened upon this blog by another fabulous cardmaker/papercrafter and I do urge you to check out her blog luvocardz.
And last, but def not least, I found this gorgeous blog and just spent an hour perusing all the wonderful cards she makes. I want to learn to colour like she does. Maybe one day, eh? In the meanwhile, check out her blog The voices in my head… Lim’s blog
Ciao!

I took this photo of my two munchkins back in October, but haven’t had time to do anything about it until now. This layout is based on a sketch from a swedish site Scraphuset and it came together super fast.
Here is my interpretation of the sketch. I used Crate Paper and some vintage sheet music I found at a market place in Rome. The cardstock is inked with distress inks and water from a mini mister. There is also home-made glimmer mist. All stamps are from Prima Crenee Paris set.

Magnolia birthday card
Posted in BasicGrey, Birthday cards, magnolia, tagged feeding my internet shopping addiction, magnolia on January 11, 2009| 2 Comments »
Here’s a new card I made with one of the new Tildas I got before Christmas. I have been busy practicing colouring with the Koh-I-Noor pencils and I think I see improvement. Last week I got some blending stumps and OMS from a local artists’ supply store as there are no scrap stores to be found around here. I have read that the stumps from China are way inferior to the ones from Taiwan and of course the only stumps they had were from China. Sigh. Anyway, either due to the stumps or my lack of talent I have not been able to get the stumps to blend as well as the Dove pen I have, so I guess I’ll just stick to the pen for now. 🙂
The background paper is from 29th Street Market, the matting behind the image panel is from Basic Grey and the number 9 is cut out from Crate paper. Oh, and there’s diamond stickles on Tilda’s wings.
I just ordered a bunch of new Magnolia stamps and I can’t WAIT to get my hands on them! My husband is going to be pleased as punch when time comes to tell him that I spent one month’s grocery money on this stuff. 😀

A perfect way to spend Friday night!
Posted in BasicGrey, Sketch Challenges, tagged distressing on January 10, 2009| 1 Comment »
My husband is visiting his family for a couple of weeks so I spent this Friday night making a card, instead of thinking about how much I miss him. 🙂 I based it on the sketch on the Basic Grey challenge blog. The rules are that one has to use at least one thing from Basic Grey. My background paper here is from the Perhaps collection, Red Riding Hood. The blue paper is from MME Bohemia. Lots of inking with Distress inks, mostly Walnut Stain. The stamped flower is colored with Koh-I-Noor pencils and a Dove blender. There will be a little sentiment panel in the lower right corner once I decide what to use the card for.
The card should have been entered before 9pm, so I obviously missed the deadline, but I’m still glad I got something done today!

2 Sketches 4 You
Posted in Birthday cards, Sketch Challenges on January 6, 2009| 1 Comment »
By now it’s hardly a secret that I love, love, love the sketches and examples by the design team over on 2 Sketches 4 You. I made a birthday card for my Sister-In-Law using Kazan’s sketch #16. Although it turned out a little different than I envisioned, I still happy with the result. The lace is vintage Italian lace i found in a cute little store in Grottaferrata and although it cost an arm and a leg I couldn’t help but buying a few metres of it. 😉 I also used a new border punch I got in Sweden just before Christmas, let’s just call the shopping spree I was on an early Christmas treat, shall we? 😉
Hmm, what else is on here… I used crackle accent on the clock and glossy accent on the bird to stiffen it up a bit. The sentiment is cut out with Nesties.
Hope you like the card! More importantly, I hope my SIL liked it!
Ciao!
