This is a layout I made for a friend a couple of weeks ago. I am planning to make a layout of her daughter as well one of these days, but thought I’d share this in the meantime. It was so nice to take a break from all the cards and do something scrappy again, it’s been far, far too long.
A couple of things about the layout: I made the background using several shades of blue and silver Color Box (cat’s eye) inks, the title is a rub-on transfer I made, as you can see by the smudge, which I don’t mind at all actually, I think it makes it more interesting than perfection would be. I made the flower from the same paper as I used behind the photo and then I sprayed it with home-made glimmer mist (distress (walnut stain) reinker, gold acrylic pain and water) and it shimmers a lot. I think I’ll go easier on the gold paint next time I make a batch. The image on the tag is an image transfer I made with the help of Mod Podge (gotta love that stuff!) and then I inked it with distress inks.
Thanks for looking!
I love image transfer – and this is a perfect use for it!! I haven’t tried it in ages – three kids is really filling my days and I’m sad to say the stamping and scrapping are really suffering. A goal for 2009 is to make some time for myself to do some of the stuff I love.
I love the smudge too – and I’m so like that. I think little errors add flare and a personal touch to each scrapbook page. I almost never fix them, unless they are glaringly obvious and messy.
Beautiful page, Minna, you’re swaying me to want to try some vintage stuff!!!
